Starting position — Underhand Inverted Row

Why it matters

The Underhand Inverted Row builds strength and size in your upper back, biceps, latissimus dorsi and rear deltoids. As a compound movement, it trains several muscles together and carries over to real-world strength and power.

How to do it

  1. Take an underhand grip with your palms facing up.
  2. Set your grip about shoulder-width and set a straight line from your head to your heels.
  3. Start with your arms straight and your shoulder blades reaching forward.
  4. Pull your chest toward the bar or handles, leading with your elbows.
  5. Squeeze your shoulder blades back at the top.
  6. Lower under control until your arms are straight and your shoulder blades reach forward.
