Medicine Ball Lunge with Rotation

Why it matters

The Medicine Ball Lunge with Rotation builds strength and size in your quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings and rectus abdominis. As a compound movement, it trains several muscles together and carries over to real-world strength and power.

How to do it

  1. Pick a ball weight you can control and clear the space around you before you start.
  2. Take a stride long enough that both knees can reach about ninety degrees.
  3. Set your torso tall and your ribs down before the first rep.
  4. Step into the stride and lower straight down rather than forward.
  5. Lower until your back knee is just off the floor.
  6. Drive up through your front foot to return to standing.
