Starting position — Band Chest Press

Why it matters

The Chest Press builds strength and size in your chest, front deltoids and triceps. As a compound movement, it trains several muscles together and carries over to real-world strength and power.

How to do it

  1. Anchor the band securely, check there is no slack at the start, and expect the tension to rise through the range.
  2. Set your grip evenly and pull your shoulder blades down and together.
  3. Set your feet and create full-body tension before you begin.
  4. Lower the load under control toward the middle of your chest.
  5. Keep your forearms vertical as you lower.
  6. Press back to a full lockout.
