Kettlebell Step-Up

Why it matters

The Kettlebell Step-Up builds strength and size in your quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings and rectus abdominis. As a compound movement, it trains several muscles together and carries over to real-world strength and power.

How to do it

  1. Set the bell in a solid rack or hold position with your wrist stacked and neutral.
  2. Set the box at a height where your working thigh is about parallel with your foot on it.
  3. Stand close enough that you step up rather than forward.
  4. Place your whole foot on the box with your weight through the middle of it.
  5. Drive through the top foot and stand tall without pushing off the trailing leg.
  6. Lower under control until the trailing foot touches, then repeat.
