Why it matters

The Glute Bridge builds strength and size in your glutes, adductors, erector spinae and rectus abdominis. As a compound movement, it trains several muscles together and carries over to real-world strength and power.

How to do it

  1. Set your upper back or shoulders as the pivot and your feet flat, about hip-width and close to your hips.
  2. Tuck your ribs down and brace before the first rep.
  3. Drive through your heels to lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees.
  4. Squeeze your glutes hard at the top for a beat.
  5. Lower your hips under control back toward the floor.
  6. Complete all your reps on one side, then repeat with the other, matching the reps on your weaker side.
